Materials and Techniques - commercial cotton prints from China and India, hand and machine quilted,
hand and machine appliqued, glass beads and shells.
Artist's Statement - "Bandana Towers" is first in a series of pieces made entirely
from printed cotton bandanas imported from China and India. I was initially drawn to
quiltmaking as an exercise in recycling. These were a find and deconstructing and
reconstructing these bandanas felt like a long lost intention come to visit like a ghost.
This one was designed, pieced and basted at my "poolside studio" as I stood in four
feet of water listening to a Braves baseball game on my solar powered radio.
It doesn't get any better than that.
